Applying the Localscapes method to residential landscapes
Newly updated for 2023! This course is intended to expand upon the concepts taught in the introductory course. It is recommended that you complete the Introduction to Localscapes class before beginning this course. Localscapes University teaches students how to apply the Localscapes concepts in your own yard.
Landscape Incentive Program:
This class will go over the requirements for the Landscape Incentive Program for larger projects like:
Full Landscape Projects
Partial Landscape Projects (front yard or backyard)
If you plan to undertake a smaller landscape project like a park strip or side yard we also recommend taking the Flip Your Strip and Side Yard class.

Erik Wermel
Erik has an extensive background in conservation biology, restoration ecology, and watershed management. Before finding his way to Utah in 2019, he honed his conservation and restoration landscaping skills across the country and developed a passion for helping homeowners save water. On the weekends, you can find him playing in the Wasatch Mountains with his wife and two boys.
Amanda Strack
Amanda has extensive training in landscape design and has been instrumental in teaching the Localscapes method. Her journey into landscaping started at an early age with her love of all things that grow in soil. Amanda moved to Utah in 2000 and has been happily rooted here ever since.
